Alex Hughes

I believe that music is an incredibly powerful art form and can reach people on so many different levels. I started to see how touching even just one person and having them relate to or feel any derived emotion from my music could be so fulfilling.

The soulful and sultry voice of Alex Hughes is undeniably unique.

Alex is born and raised in Calgary Alberta where her country roots have taken shape with a modern contemporary edge.

Her diverse background has shaped an interesting and relevant vibe. Growing up in a large family surrounded by music, entertainment and culture, becoming a singer/songwriter was inevitable.

In a petit package, Alex delivers powerful vocals and heartfelt performances where ever she goes. Having performed since the age of 7 Alex quickly stood out as a voice to be noticed. Winning Calgary Junior Idol at age 14 fueled her passion and commitment at a very young age.

The Calgary Stampede talent search garnered Alex the “Don Welden Memorial Award" Most Promising Performer in 2005. Performing with the Calgary Stampede throughout the province Alex has been an integral part of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth with performances on the Calgary Stampede Float each year as well as the entertainment Caravan throughout the city during Stampede week.

In 2009 Alex won the open division of the Country Vocal Spotlight in Edmonton and then went on to win the Global Country Star Search. Alex was given the opportunity to perform at various venues during the Canadian Finals Rodeo and travel to Nashville where she was a multiple award winner at the 2009 and 2010 North American Country Music Association International Awards.


Alex performs on a regular base all over Alberta. Her most recent accomplishment is a very exciting sponsorship with The Alberta Dodge Dealers.

With their support and that of her family and friends she is able to continue to follow her dreams and pursue her goal towards a successful career in music.


Alex continues to learn and grow and has taken the opportunity to develop and begin to hone her craft. After releasing a 5 song demo of all original music her next project includes writing and working towards the release of a debut cd in the near future.
